All,

We've received a handful of reports from users with the newest (2-26-08) revision of the MacBook Pros and an inability to start up Diablo 2 and StarCraft.

The StarCraft Startup Options and the Diablo 2 Options screens will appear, but after pressing Ok, the games close and do not load.

Currently, we are still investigating this issue and I'll provide updates here once more information is received. Until then, please use this thread to report your system information if you are experiencing this issue.

Please post the following information from your System Profile (Go > Utilities > System Profiler):

Hardware (remove the Serial Number line)
Graphics/Displays
Software (remove the Computer Name and User Name lines)

Update!

We are currently in discussion with Apple about this issue and hope to have a resolution soon. Currently, the only work around is to install Windows on a separate partition and run StarCraft or Diablo 2 through Windows.

I tried and still no luck.. I tried both 640x480 and 640x480(stretched).

I have BW with the latest patch installed.

I have the same problem with my brand-new Penryn-based MBP 15. At first I thought it was incompatibility with Rosetta (StarCraft loads as a "PowerPC" process in the Activity Monitor), but other such programs work fine. I even have WarCraft III Expansion working, which is how I managed to get a battle.net account thus allowing me to post on this forum at all. However, WarCraft III does seem to forget which gateway to connect to, and thus freezes if I try to connect to Battle.Net without first selecting a gateway.

But what brought me to this forum, and thsubject of this thread is still StarCraft (Brood War, with the latest patch installed, as of this post), which behaves as described in other threads and this one: the video options screen appears, I click on OK, and then StarCraft disappears, without triggering a crash report screen. Nothing even in the Console or other crash logs that I could find.
Perhaps there is an incomptibility with the new hardware set-up?

Good luck for resolving this issue. It's really annoying not being able to play the game at all!

I am having the same problem as well.. Hope apple brings out a fix soon. I bought a second copy to help myself with the MAC, but now its very useless :P

I'm using the lowest end Macbook Pro, not on it so I dont have exact specs but:

200GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)

BTW... No options screen appear on my version. I was able to install it, and a screen popped up that said Play Now or Exit Installer.. Thats it.

So when I open mine, it bounces like its going to open, but then I get the quit unexpectedly thing..

This really sucks. Some of use don't have a copy of windows to install and use, so we are out of luck period.......
