The semi-finals and finals at the EverLAN Warcraft III tournament were a match-up of North America’s best Warcraft III players. All of the matches played today were some of the most unique and interesting matches to watch, capturing the essence behind what makes each of these players the best at what they do. The morning started off with Suboshi beating TechnoBoy 2-0. Next up was a match-up between the two greatest players in North America- Canuck and CarDinal. Canuck took the victory with a record of 2-0 and moved on to the finals to face Suboshi. The final matches were some truly fantastic battles. Be sure not to miss these replays, as you’ll be able to pick up some of the excellent strategies and tactics implemented by each of the players. Played out over the best of five games, both Suboshi vs Canuck and CarDinal vs TechnoBoy ended up playing a full five matches— a perfect example of competition at its finest.

In the 1st and 2nd place finals, Canuck took the win in the first game and succumbed to a loss in the second. Canuck took yet another loss in the third match, but surmounts an incredible comeback in game four to reestablish his chances at the championship in the fifth and final match. In a glorious final battle on the Gnoll Wood map, Canuck fights hard and is victorious, taking 1st place at EverLAN.

The final results:
1st – ENE|Canuck
2nd – ENE|Suboshi
3rd – VoG.gmpo.Revive (AKA TechnoBoy)
4th – CarDinal)

Congratulations to the winners and their excellent work throughout the tournament. An exciting finish round set up some interesting rivalries for the next EverLAN Warcraft III tournament coming this summer!
The start of some of the more eagerly anticipated matches that helped determine the EverLAN Warcraft III champion began on the 21st. Among some of the most notable names that participated were:
  • ENE|Suboshi
  • ENE|Canuck
  • ENE|OnEMoReTrY
  • ENE|Grassy
  • ENE|x121 ("citan" in brackets)
  • VoG.gmpo.Revive (AKA TechnoBoy)
  • xPL.PerFume
  • xE.Seek
  • CarDinaL)
  • nX.KR3W
Full brackets for the tournament can be found here.

The Warcraft III matches held on the 21st brought out some interesting confrontations only part way through the brackets. Top performers ENE|Canuck and nX.KR3W fought in Round Three on Echo Isles and Turtle Rock, where the Canuck’s persistent strategies lead him to a 2-0 victory.

Later in the evening, the Round Four match-ups proved to be some of the most tense and upsetting games of the event. Canuck battled his friend x121 in three full-on matches, each match lasting almost an entire 30 minutes. EverLAN’s last 2v2 Warcarft III tournament winner and CPL regular PerFume took on the veteran CarDinal and was unable to maintain his victorious hold at EverLAN as he lost to CarDinal. In addition, ENE clan-mates Grassy and Suboshi were forced to switch from playing friendly practice games to official matches that sent one of the clanmates out of the ranking contentions. Thus, the thought-to-be-retired Suboshi had obviously been practicing and took the win to move on into the semi-finals. (Unfortunately, the first match's replay was not saved, however the remaining two from that match can be found below.) As the night wrapped up, the players worked their way through the bracket standings and into the quarter finals. After the standings were updated, only the four best players remained to battle it out.

The doors opened in snowy Denver, Colorado at 12:00 P.M. and hundreds of gamers poured in to find their seats and begin the three days of intense competitive gaming. The first rounds of the Warcraft III tournament were pushed back to start at 10:30PM, which gave some time for heated practice matches and preparations for the battles coming in the next few days. The matches that were held this evening consisted of only initial qualifiers to cut down the brackets to 32 players, all of whom would end up competing in best of three matches throughout the next two days.
