Ladder Season Three Rules

Tournament Start Times:
Kalimdor (Asia) Sunday Dec. 11 at 1 p.m. GMT+9 (Seoul)
Northrend (Europe) Sunday Dec. 11 at 1 p.m. CET (Paris)
Azeroth (US-East) Sunday Dec. 11 at 1 p.m. EST (New York)
Lordaeron (US-West) Sunday Dec. 11 at 1 p.m. PST (Los Angeles)

Channel & Times
  • The tournament will take place in channel "Season Finals" on all Battle.net Gateways.
  • Qualified players must be in the tournament channel at the scheduled match start times.
  • Qualified players must be in the tournament channel with the same alias they qualified with. Substituting to a different account will not be permitted during the online portion of the Season Three Finals.
  • Channel Season Finals is moderated. This means the tournament staff, marked with Blizzard accounts, will be able to see text, and players will be likewise able to see text from the tournament staff. However, players will not be able to see text from other players in the channel.
  • When entering the channel players should send a /whisper to one of the tournament staff letting them know they are present.
  • Arriving on time is critical. Players showing up late may forfeit their matches and be eliminated from the tournament. Forfeits are handed out at the sole discretion of the event staff.
Match & Tournament Format
  • The Online Finals will take place in a single-elimination tournament with each round being a best-of-3. The Online Finals consists of the rounds of 16, quarter finals, semi-finals, and the consolation finals for 3rd and 4th place. The Grand Finals in Korea will take place in a different format.
  • Each match will take place on a pre-determined first map. After that, the loser of the previous round may select any remaining map from the eligible map pool for their choice. The same map may not be played twice in a match.
  • A "consolation" finals to determine 3rd and 4th place will be played immediately following the semi-finals. If for any reason the top two finishers on a gateway are not able to attend the Grand Finals in Korea, the position will first be offered to the 3rd place finisher on that Gateway, then the 4th place finisher.
  • The eligible map pool for the online finals will be: Twisted Meadows, Turtle Rock, Gnoll Wood (TFT), Lost Temple (RoC), Terenas Stand.
  • The first map for each round will be:
    • 1st Round: Gnoll Wood (TFT version)
    • Quarter-Finals: Twisted Meadows
    • Semi-Finals: Lost Temple (RoC version)
    • Consolation Finals: Terenas Stand
Hosts
  • Players should make all attempts to find a mutually suitable host. To aid in this process, a list of volunteer hosts may be found on the Battle.net forums in this thread.
  • In the case a mutually agreeable host can not be found, the tournament staff reserves the right to enforce the use of a particular host. Also, if finding a suitable host is taking a very long period of time, the tournament staff reserves the right to enforce the use of a particular host even if both players have agreed to keep looking.
  • For Lordaeron and Azeroth only, a very limited amount of Blizzard hosts may be available. However, players should not count on having access to these hosts and should attempt to find one they and their opponent can agree to.
  • It is highly recommended that players test the latency of the chosen host prior to actually starting the tournament match. Once a host has been accepted by both players, and the tournament match is underway, players may not elect to leave if they find the latency unfavorable, or if changes in latency occur during the match.
  • There are a number of official shoutcasters who will be covering this event. Matches with these shoutcasters may not begin until that person is in the game with the players. If there are any questions about who the official casters are, please contact the tournament staff in the event channel.
  • No observers besides tournament staff, the host, and any official shoutcasters will be allowed to be in the match. Hosts and shoutcasters need to remember that the event replays will be widely downloaded, and are subject to the same behaviour rules as the players. Spamming and inapprioriate behaviour, may result in action by tournament staff.
  • Tournament staff will indicate in the channel prior to each match which games the shoutcasters will be covering.
Reporting Match Results & Replays
  • After each match is completed, players should inform the tournament staff in the Season Finals channel with the results.
  • In a change from Season Two, all replays are now required. Players who do not submit replays following their matches will be disqualified.
  • Tournament staff will provide an email address during the competition to which replays should be e-mailed.
  • Players will not be able to advance in the brackets until replays from the previous round have been received.
  • Players who achieve a top 4 position need to contact the tournament staff at the provided e-mail address immediately after the event for further information about the Grand Finals.
Settings & Rules
  • All matches are to be played with Full Observer setting.
  • All matches must be completed on December 11th during the scheduled tournament times. Due to the pending holiday season, we will not be able to accommodate any match rescheduling or postponement.
  • All players who have already qualified, or believe they may qualify during the third qualification window on December 9th should regularly check the Battle.net Season Three brackets to learn their seeding, first round opponent, and confirm they have qualified. There will not be a separate email notification.
  • In general, any disconnection during a Season Three finals match will result in a loss for the disconnecting player. There are a few exceptions:
    • If a disconnection occurs in the first 30 seconds of the match, the match may be restarted once. However, any player found to be misusing this and intentionally disconnecting due to an unfavorable start location or other reasons may be disqualified at the discretion of the tournament staff.
    • If both opponents agree to replay the map.
    • The tournament staff may enforce a replay of a map at its discretion, but will do so only under extenuating circumstances.
  • Players must behave in a sportsmanlike fashion and refrain from inappropriate behaviour and language. This includes both in the Battle.net channels and during matches. The tournament staff may at its discretion take any action against any player creating an uncomfortable environment for others.
  • Both players and the host are responsible for ensuring that the correct map is played. Players must identify an inproper map or version within the first 30 seconds of a game that is already underway for a re-creation to be permitted.
  • All Battle.net Terms of Use apply.
