Chris_Low vs. LOVE_BOAT
Battleground:

RIVALRY

Match One

Players:
Chris_Low - PROTOSS - Upper Left
LOVE_BOAT - TERRAN - Upper Right

Game Length: 25:43

The game starts with choosing the Chris_Low Protoss forces and LOVE_BOAT takes command of the Terran war machine. When LOVE_BOAT finds Chris_Low's base, he sees that the Protoss have already built their first Gateway and are warping in an Assimilator. LOVE_BOAT doubles up on his Barracks, but isn't fast enough to mount an attack before Chris_Low finds his base and begins harassing him with an uncontested Zealot, killing some of his precious SCVs.

LOVE_BOAT finally trains a pair of Marines who kill the intruder. He then focuses on tightening his defenses by controlling the ramp into his base with Bunker emplacements, Missile Towers, and a good deal of infantry. Chris_Low keeps a watch on his enemy's base with a small group of Dragoons -- not strong enough yet to mount an assault, but successful in containing the Terran and preventing any expansion attempts. LOVE_BOAT continues to fortify his position as Chris_Low expands to a new resources node. LOVE_BOAT researches and climbs up his tech tree, gaining Factories and a Starport. He then begins working on a Science Facility. Chris_Low brings in more Dragoons to sit just below LOVE_BOAT's ramp.

By this time LOVE_BOAT has positioned Siege Tanks on the cliffs of his base and manages to eliminate any Dragoons that have moved within range of their powerful Siege guns. LOVE_BOAT knows that he needs to expand and gain more resources if he is going to have a chance to win this match, so he extends the sighting range of his Tanks with a well placed Missile Tower. Chris_Low's encamped Dragoons are forced to retreat.

With a little more room to breathe, LOVE_BOAT is able to build his second Command Center at the resource node just below him. Chris_Low hovers nearby but can't attack while those Siege Tanks maintain their watchful perch. Although this strategy has kept him at bay in regards to attacking the Terrans, Chris_Low has been able to keep his enemy contained to a small portion of the map, allowing his Protoss minions to expand twice more and control the entire left side of the battlefield!

LOVE_BOAT has gathered a force of Marines, Siege Tanks, and a Science Vessel, and moves to gain more territory to replenish his quickly dwindling resources. He marches west from his position, looking for easy Protoss prey. As LOVE_BOAT goes high, Chris_Low moves a group of Zealots low and manages to catch the Terran assault force from the rear, inflicting heavy damage. Chris_Low then attempts yet another expansion at the lower right resource node, but LOVE_BOAT notices it and brings a strong ground force to stamp it out.

Although Chris_Low has lost this newest expansion, the resources gained from his four (4) bases is allows him to produce a large fleet of Carriers. He decides that now is the time to attack LOVE_BOAT's staunchly defended main base. A skirmish with a Bunker and a host of Missile Towers quickly turns into a scorching battle as LOVE_BOAT pulls in defending Marines to the focal point of the attack. Wraiths are hurled into the fray as well, but LOVE_BOAT can not yet cloak them. The Terran airships are no match for the fleet of Carriers and are mercilessly destroyed. Now that much of his opponent's defenses are gone, Chris_Low sends in a cadre of Zealots to eliminate any final opposition, and the battle is his.

THE LOST TEMPLE

Match Two

Players:
Chris_Low - ZERG - Upper Right
LOVE_BOAT - TERRAN - Top Center

Game Length: 8:21

As the game begins, Chris_Low chooses to control the Zerg hordes while LOVE_BOAT again elects to command the Terran forces. Both players find each other quickly -- Chris_Low with his first Overlord and LOVE_BOAT with an SCV. Chris_Low quickly evolves a Spawning Pool, but produces only two Zerglings. He then starts on a Hydralisk Den as he sends his pair of Zerglings on the attack, and at this early point in the game LOVE_BOAT has only a few scattered Marines to defend his base. The attacking Zerglings manage to each kill a Terran Marine before they are taken down by Gauss rifle fire.

LOVE_BOAT begins to fortify the ramp leading into his base as Chris_Low trains Hydralisks and upgrades his Hatchery to a Lair. Soon after that, four Hydralisks cocoon themselves and begin the morph into Lurkers.

Chris_Low then tries a desperate gambit: he moves his Lurkers to just below LOVE_BOAT's defended ramp and then charges them headlong into enemy fire. They scuttle past a filled Bunker and a secondary group of Marines, finally coming to rest in the midst of LOVE_BOAT's resource gathering SCVs!

The Terrans have only a few seconds to watch in terror as the Lurkers burrow into the ground beneath their feet. Marines come rushing in to defend their civilian comrades, and - although they manage to kill two of the Lurkers - they are too late. The surprised defenders barely have time to witness the carnage around them before they too are ripped apart by the deadly spines of the burrowed Lurkers. With this daring play, Chris_Low secures his second victory and advances to the next round.

Victor: Chris_Low
